History
Fernando Cortez is the only child of Sandra and Samuel Cortez. Both of Fernando’s parents are of Puerto Rican decent. Fernando (Fuzz) Cortez was raised by his other most of his life. Soon after Fernando was born, his father joined the service, and, eventually became a merchant marine. Since then, he has never heard nor seen his father. Despite the tremendous emotional blow that he and his mother received from his Fathers leaving, his mother(Sonia)still gained not only her bachelor’s degree in business and fine arts, but also a masters in marketing, all while raising her child through his high school years, but her success was short lived. Approximately five months after receiving her promotional at a very illustrious marketing firm, she was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. She literally died in Fuzz’s arms. He was only 6 years old. Fuzz was placed in the custody of his aunt, Sonia Miles where physical and emotional abuse was rampant.
This displacements, along with the abuse, hardened Fuzz, causing him to act out and hold on to the only family he felt he had left, his younger cousin, Tyreke Miles, son of Sonia and Travis Miles. During this course in time he befriended Trent, an upper income class boy from upstate New York, whose own surrogate family moved down to the city for better job advancement. A mutual bond was formed between Fuzz and Trent; a bond that would lead to Fuzz’s incarceration. One night, after an altercation at a house party, Fuzz and Trent were attacked. Trent, fearing more for Fuzz’s life than his own, pulled out a switch blade and cut one of the kid’s throats…and kept the murder weapon. This landed Fuzz into a juvenile detention facility, suspending all parental rights of his care givers, Sonia and Travis Miles. At 18, Fuzz was rotated into a full correctional facility. One year later, fuzz was released and did two years of college. Seeing that a degree was worthless to a convict (at least in his mind), he and Trent, instead built a strong drug cartel, on that extended from New York, all the way up to Albany. Since then, Fuzz has continued in this life, a life that, for most, is all too real.
Personality

To Fuzz, Family is everything! The only people he sincerely loves or values are his cousin, Tyreke, who he would do anything for, even kill for, and his girlfriend Dawn, who serves as an equal balance for him throughout the story. Fuzz is as real as they come, hard core and very street wise. He has virtually mastered the game, but his temper is razor sharp, and any endangering of himself or his family will most certainly lead to very bloody ends.

Cool Note:
Very few know this, but the image you see ghosted in the bio that looks like a serpent intertwined into itself is actually a tattoo Fuzz has on his right hand shoulder. It actually represents the first image he drew for his mother, representing the inseparable bond they shared, quite unique and beautiful. He gave it to her weeks before a tragic car accidents, in which he died right in Fuzz's arms at the age of 6.
